Take A Hike On One of the Most Mysterious and Intriguing Trails in New Jersey
My wife and I love hiking and we love when we can hike here in New Jersey. If you are looking to get those steps in and get outdoors and get the fresh air, sunshine, and exercise then hiking can be a great way to get it all done.
Another great thing about hiking is that there is less stress on the body than running. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with running at all. I ran for years and put a ton of miles on my legs, but I'm done with that phase now and find walking best for me. I have a harder time recovering from runs now and my legs just respond better to walking, so hiking has become my thing. Now that I let you know why I love hiking, let's talk about a great trail for families, and yes kids will love it.
We have heard of Fairy Tales, But Fairfy Trails? It's the New Jersey Fairy Trail and it's located at the South Mountain Reservation in Millburn, New Jersey. It is part of a large trail system located in the area. The Fairy Trail has numerous little Fairy Houses that can be found as the family hikes. The hike is short but there is a lot to see and it's one of the most unique hiking trails in New Jersey, maybe America. Check out my mega photo gallery and see just some of the sites, there are plenty more for your kids to explore. It's great family time and good exercise.
I suggest hiking shoes or sneakers and making sure you supervise little ones. It's a great photo op so have the camera ready.
CLICK HERE for more information on the Fairy Trail. It's about a 90-minute drive from Ocean County. Millburn is a cute town in Essex County. We went for lunch in Millburn after our 5-mile hike. We added outside trails to the Fairy Trail to get the mileage in.
