It's always important to pray, not mandated, not nothing, but a conversation for protection, skills, abilities and a guided path.

St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church in Toms River is once again holding a mass to pray for the protection of some of our heroes with their 7th annual Healthcare Professionals Mass which will be held on Sunday October 18 at 2:00 pm.

In what is called the 'White Mass' in the Catholic Church, this particular prayerful service is called a “White Mass,” as it refers to the white coats worn by doctors and other medical care practitioners in the field.

“We are so proud of this annual tradition at our parish,” St. Luke’s Healthcare Professionals Mass coordinator June Chu said in prepared remarks. “The Healthcare Professionals Mass is a special celebration for all who attend, and given the pandemic crisis that has overwhelmed the medical community this year, it is so important to pray for and bless our healthcare heroes on this day.”

On a related note, St. Luke is the Patron Saint of Physicians in the Catholic Church.

Healthcare workers of all faiths are welcome to attend this celebration.
