Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Re-Opens This Week

Six Flags announced that their Hurricane Harbor waterpark would reopen for the 2020 season on Thursday, July 23rd. The theme park and Wild Safari have already opened, and the waterpark will be the last to welcome guests this summer. Hurricane Harbor will be open Thursday-Monday each week until the end of the season.

Hurricane Harbor also revealed their reopening plan, which meets or exceeds the federal, state, and local guidelines for sanitization, hygiene, and social distancing protocols:

• Health Screenings for Guests and Team Members
• Strictly Enforced Social Distancing
• Extensive Sanitization and Disinfecting Protocols
• Sanitized Food Preparation and Service
• Commercial-Grade Cleaning Equipment and Supplies
• Multi-Layered Guest and Team Member Communication
• Park Reservations System to Manage Attendance

Just like the theme park and safari, you will have to reserve your day at the waterpark in advance.

In a normal year, I'm always torn when it comes to waterparks. Part of me is grossed out by the idea of dozens or hundreds or thousands of people being in the same pool, with sweat and sunscreen and whatever pouring off their body, and little kids peeing or swim diapers leaking. The other part of me feels confident that the park is using enough chlorine and whatever other chemicals to keep the water clean.

We're really relying on each other right now. If you're sick, don't go out in public and definitely don't go to a theme park. If you do go, just be considerate to those around you. It'll suck to wear a mask on a hot humid day while walking around a theme park, but if it's that hard, you don't have to go. Just wear the mask, wash your hands, and stay safe!
