Semifinals

(1) Ranney 56, (4) Middletown North 36

Junior Isaac Hester pumped in 27 points and the Panthers (3-0) rode a fast start to a win over the Lions (1-2) to push their way into the Buc Classic final on Thursday.

Senior Brandon Klatsky chipped 13 points -- all in the first half -- and senior Charles Anyichie added six points, 13 rebounds and six steals for Ranney.

Senior Matt Kenny led Middletown North with 15 points.

(3) CBA 52, (2) Rumson-Fair Haven 48

Junior Will Bradley scored 17 of his game-high 26 points in the second half, including six huge points in the final 2:30 to help the Colts (4-0) stave off a late rally from the Bulldogs (3-1) and reach the Buc Classic final Thursday against top-seeded Ranney.

Rumson stormed back into the game with an 11-0 run that cut a 44-30 CBA lead to 44-41 with 3:40 left in the game.

After junior Joe White hit one of two free throws and both teams traded two empty possessions, Bradley scored on three consecutive trips down the floor. He hit a pair of baseline jumpers on the right side of the floor, Bradley capped the spurt with an acrobatic, left-handed reverse layup driving along the same baseline to give CBA a 51-43 lead with 1:12 to go.

Sophomore Peter Noble added 11 points for CBA and senior James Durney contributed seven off the bench.

Senior Trent Sloan keyed the Rumson comeback with 11 of his team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter and nine of Rumson's 11 points during the momentum-swinging run. Sloan converted a three-point play to start the run and book-ended a dunk by senior Scott Gyimesi with a pair of three-pointers.

Gyimesi shook off first-half foul trouble to finish with 13 points and senior Cal Famula added nine in the loss.

 

Consolation

(7) Lacey 60, (6) Red Bank 55

Junior Troy Buxton scored 26 points and grabbed six rebounds to help lead the Lions (2-3) to a consolation win over the host Bucs (1-4).

Junior Chris Venturoso also pulled down six rebounds to go with his 16 points and junior Dylan Hall pitched in 10 points and 10 rebound for Lacey.

(5) Long Branch 46, (8) Sayreville 45

Sophomore Devin Jones made a baseline reverse layup as time expired and the Green Wave (1-4) rallied from a 13 point deficit over the final 12 minutes to stun the Bombers (0-3).

Long Branch trailed, 42-29, at the midway point of the third quarter and embarked on a 15-0 run over the next 11:20 of the game to take a 44-42 lead on a driving layup by Jones.

Sayreville answered with a three-pointer with 31 seconds left and forced a turnover on the ensuing inbound play, but failed to convert the front-end of a 1-and-1 with 20 seconds left.

Long Branch will take on Lacey Thursday in the fifth-place game while Sayreville will play host Red Bank in the seventh-place game on Thursday.

 

Husky Classic

At Matawan

Semifinals

(1) Seton Hall Prep 66, (5) Manalapan 45

Shawn Lyght led four Seton Hall Prep players in double-figures with 14 points and the Pirates (3-1) overpowered the Braves (1-3) to advance to the Husky Classic championship game Thursday against Union.

Senior Anthony Conforth led Manalapan with 13 points and classmate Gabe Blackwell chipped in 11 in the loss.

(2) Union 72, (3) Holmdel 64

Sophomore Nick Seeloch scored a game-high 26 points, but the Farmers (2-0) came up with a big fourth quarter to get past the Hornets (2-2) and reach the Husky Classic final Thursday against top-seeded Seton Hall Prep.

Seeloch scored 15 of his points during the third quarter, during which Holmdel outscored Union, 23-18, to tie the score at 52-52 heading to the fourth.

Sophomore Ben Kipnis poured in 19 points and both he and Seeloch combined to hit all 10 of Holmdel's three-pointers, with Seeloch hitting six and Kipnis four. Freshman Evan Romano also scored 13 points for the Hornets.

Malachi Johnson led Union with 19 points.

(4) Old Bridge 78, (8) Matawan 41

Jayden St. Rose scored 16 points and the Knights (2-3) steamrolled to a win over the Huskies (0-5). Senior Kyle Haliburton led Matawan with 10 points.

(6) Hamilton West 52, (7) Carteret 29

Semifinals

(1) Lenape 57, (4) Howell 38

Aidan Anderson scored 18 points and Rutgers commit Derek Simpson scored 13 of his 17 in the first half to spark the Indians (4-0) to a win over the previously-unbeaten Rebels (3-1).

Senior Joe Dupuis led Howell with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

(2) Holy Spirit 65, (3) Southern 57

Ky Gilliam scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Spartans (2-1) past the host Rams (2-2) and into the Score at the Shore championship game Thursday against top-seeded Lenape.

Senior Nick Devane led Southern with 15 points and senior Jaden Anthony pitched in 14 points and eight assists for the Rams, who will take on Howell in the third-place game on Thursday.

At Point Boro

Point Boro 64, Freehold Boro 42

Junior Shane Ryan scored 14 points off the bench and senior Matt Lee led the starters with 13 as the Panthers (3-0) cruised to a win over the Colonials (0-4).

Freshman Brian Tassey led Freehold Boro with a game-high 16 points and sophomore Christian DiGiso added 13 in the loss.

 

Blue Devil Holiday Tournament (Round-Robin)

At Shore Regional

Jackson Liberty 56, Shore 45

Senior Dahkario Pritchett scored 12 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter and classmate Phanique Dupree added 18 to help lead the Lions (3-1) to a win over the Blue Devils (2-2).

Pritchett hit a go-ahead three-pointer to put Jackson Liberty ahead for good with under six minutes to go and Dupree followed with a two-hand dunk to make it 43-39 with 5:24 to go in the game, as Jackson Liberty took off from there and never looked back.

Roman Santos scored 19 points to lead a Rams (4-0) win over the Titans (0-3), who were paced by 13 points by junior Mike Alonso and 11 from junior Jaheim Hill.

Sophomore Jamari Smith scored 15 points and junior JoJo Bivens chipped in 13 to lead the Bengals (2-3) past the Colts (0-5) to claim third place in the Bill Osborn Memorial Bracket of the Boardwalk Classic.
