If you're heading to Seaside Heights this Saturday (2/24) for the Polar Bear Plunge, give yourself extra time.

Once again, there will only be one lane open heading eastbound over the Tunney Bridge due to the winter construction on the drawbridge that won't be completed until this May.

Thankfully this is the FINAL phase of the bridge construction that has had the older, smaller bridge closed for the past three Winters.

Officials say, "The DOT has been working very closely with the event organizers as well as local officials regarding the Polar Plunge this weekend, and basically we’re recommending that anyone attending the event look at alternate routes".

Route 35 South into Seaside Heights is a recommended alternative.

Seaside Heights is expecting thousands of people to be either jumping into the Atlantic Ocean or watching from the boardwalk.
If you are wondering about the weather, right now the forecast is calling for temperatures to be in the low 50's with a 50% chance of rain.
Oh yeah.......Water temps will be a balmy 40-45 degrees around plunge time!
