For example, the tap water at my parent's house tastes different from what the tap at my mother-in-law's house tastes like which is different from the tap in our home in Ocean Gate.

That being said, there are reports coming in that nearly 3 Million New Jersey residents are reporting that their tap water has a more salty taste to it than it has in recent months,

This has been confirmed by New Jersey American Water and the reason for it is actually pretty simple.

According to Yahoo, the reason for the increased salt flavor in tap water in Jersey right now is because of all of the salt and brine that we've been treating the roads with.

When it rains the salt and brine wash off the road and sometimes find themselves in bays, creeks, and rivers and sometimes it will wash off into drinking reservoirs.

This may sound pretty nasty but DEP and New Jersey American Water, if your tap tastes salty you can rest assured that it will not have any adverse health effects and that the water still reaches health and safety standards.

That being said if you are on a low-salt or restricted-sodium diet, it's recommended you talk to your doctor before drinking out of the taps if they taste salty, and you may want to switch over to bottled water for the time being or you could try to filter your water.

And if you don't want to go with filtered water or bottled, there's always your local watering hole!
