Popular Manasquan NJ Ice Cream Hot Spot Sale Could Be Messy For The Locals
Say it isn’t so! Carlson’s Corner in Manasquan is up for sale. I know what you’re thinking. How can that be? Carlson’s Corner has been an important landmark at the Jersey Shore for 2 generations. Where else am I going to get some of the best ice cream in Manasquan?
Originally built in 1937, Carlson’s Corner on the Manasquan inlet has catered to all kinds of taste buds. Surfers could stroll in after riding the morning waves and order a pork roll and cheese cooked to perfection. Maybe then the next day it was a toasted corn muffin. Even Bruce Springsteen would stand in line during his visit to the inlet.
Carlson’s Corner is famous for ice cream and it never mattered if you had to wait in a line down the block on those perfect summer nights. You kind of expect it. You especially also looked forward to it on Thursday night. Waiting in that line also gives you the perfect view of the fireworks going off in Point Pleasant. How about their famous cheeseburgers, and grilled hot dogs? I can smell them on the grill. Oh, and can I have some fries with that?
This isn’t the first time Carlson’s Corner has been on the market. There have been many new owners through the years. In fact, back in 2009 the iconic shore hotspot was not only sold but the building itself was torn down. News of that decision caused an uproar in the community, only to be smoothed over once the locals learned a new building would be erected in its place.
The business is listed on the market for $1,700,000. Included in the purchase price are the corner lot, the business, and the equipment. We’ve been down this road before. Hopefully, the line of interested entrepreneurs is as long as the line for Thursday night ice cream on a perfect summer night.
