Point Pleasant’s American Idol Facing 10-to-Life In Prison

About 10 months ago, Antonella Barba was busted for "selling or intending to sell" 100 grams of heroin. She was caught in Virginia, and placed under house arrest in Point Pleasant while awaiting trial.

Earlier this week, she plead guilty to possession of at least 400 grams of fentanyl with intent to distribute, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison. She could face a possible life sentence and up to $10 million in fines, as well as asset forfeiture.

Barba rose to a certain level of fame back in 2007 when she appeared on American Idol. I met her when she visited one of our sister stations while I was still a member of the Promotions Department, and (like I said when she was arrested) this is a surprise because she was super-nice, both her parents were super-nice, and she just didn't fit the stereotype of a junkie. I guess it's just evidence that you never know who could succumb to an addiction.
