Harvey Cedars did it, Long Beach Township did it, Point Pleasant Beach did it...and now all of New Jersey may follow the trend of banning plastic bags.

A bill put forth in the state legislature would eliminate plastic shopping bags and other single-use plastic items from the entire state.

It's not just plastic bags, the ban would also include styrofoam containers and plastic straws. The straw thing has been gaining momentum on social media (at least among my friends), with lots of infographics going around saying we should tell restaurants to not include straws in our drinks, or to buy reusable straws for the home.

While there will certainly people that push back, the ban makes sense in the long run. Plastic bags will still be allowed for certain things (raw meat at the grocery store, bait shops, etc) but the less plastic we can use, the better our environment will be.
