According to Fox News, the plane was set to depart, began accelerating, and one of the engines started to flame. Multiple sources are speculating that a large bird flew into the engine causing the fire. Governor Murphy took to Twitter to share, "We’re closely monitoring an aircraft incident that happened tonight at @ACYAirport. All passengers and crew were successfully evacuated off the plane, and no serious injuries reported. The airport has reopened."
The Lakewood Scoop has a video of the emergency evacuation posted to Twitter here. This isn't the first time we've written about Spirit Airlines and flights leaving or arriving from the Atlantic City airport. In April, we wrote about the Livid Toms River, New Jersey Family Thrown Off Flight. In August, we shared More flights were cancelled Thursday: Spirit Airlines says system reboot will fix it.
