NJAW replacing 8,000 feet of aging water main in Lakewood

A few months worth of taking out 8,000 feet of aging water main in Lakewood and replacing it with a fresher set of main begins on Monday.

New Jersey American Water announced that they are upgrading the aging 6-inch water lines, installed around the 1930’s, with new 8-inch ductile iron main along 14th Street from Hope Chapel Road to Madison Avenue.

Seven fire hydrants and 82 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route are also getting a boost.

This $1.8 million project "will continue to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in this community."

New Jersey American Water’s contractor, Perna Finnigan, Inc. expects to finish by the end of January, weather permitting.

Work hours will be from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Final street restorations will be completed in the spring of 2021.
