The next stop along the water main replacement tour for New Jersey American Water is in Ocean Township, Monmouth County, which could lead to some traffic delays.

NJAW announced on Thursday that there are approximately 8,400 feet of aging water main getting an upgrade across parts of Ocean Township along with the replacement of one fire hydrant and 106 utility-owned service lines.

It'll be an out with the old, in with the new kind of project here.

There are crews heading out to replace 2- and 6-inch cast iron water lines, installed as far back as the 1900s, according to NJAW, with new 8-inch ductile iron mains.

The project Ocean Township will foot a bill of about $2.6 million, and more broadly, is a part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar plan to boost water infrastructure across the state.
