Finally...The New York Mets season begins today!!

It's been way too long without any baseball and sports in general. The Mets season was supposed to start at the end of march, but with the Coronavirus pandemic shutting everything down around the globe, all sports have been put on hold...until this week.

The sixty game season kicked off last night with the Yankees beating the Washington Nationals 4-1 in a shortened game due to heavy rain.

Today the New York Mets face the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field at 4 p.m with back to back Cy Young winner, Jacob deGrom on the mound.

The Mets starting lineup:

  1. CF- Brandon Nimmo
  2. 3B- Jeff McNeil
  3. 1B- Pete Alonso
  4. RF- Michael Conforto
  5. DH- Yoenis Cespedes
  6. 2B- Robinson Cano
  7. LF- J.D. Davis
  8. C- Wilson Ramos
  9. SS- Amed Rosario

As with everything else, there will be no fans in the stands, and Major League Baseball is mandating that players in the dugout and bullpen maintain social distancing the best they can.

It's a short season, so the Mets need to get off to a quick start. They can't afford to start the season slowly.

It's a sprint, not a marathon.
