Usually, when you see the phrase 'big changes, ' it can cause your heart to start beating a little faster because it can mean that something you like is closing.

For example, there were some big changes at the Bayville Commons off Route 9 this past week; it looks like Smokies Craft BBQ has closed its location there.

But sometimes change is a good thing and that seems to be the case at the Freehold Raceway Mall.

It's one of the few malls that's figured out how to still remain a local hotspot for shopping, dining, and community events.

And now, there are some really cool new additions that are getting ready to open in the near future.

According to APP, there's a new fitness center getting ready to open in one of the mall's old anchor stores.

Freehold Athletic Club features pickleball courts, a huge weight room and it'll be a wellness center.

They'll also feature a virtual golf course so you can practice your drive regardless of the weather.

In addition to the Freehold Athletic Club, APP reports that Dave and Busters is in the process of opening at the Freehold Raceway Mall as well, it's currently under construction and will be a great addition when it opens later this year.

That's not all though, even Dicks Sporting Goods is remodeling the old Lord and Taylor at the mall to bring us Dicks House Of Sport; its first New Jersey Store.

And LIDL, the discount grocer, plans on finally opening its store just across the street from the Freehold Raceway Mall this spring.

It's a very exciting time to be a mall rat in Freehold, but not all malls are growing quite like this one.
