New Jersey’s Rank With DUI’s & Drunk Driving Is Astonishingly Hopeful

Zutobi.com recently released a study showing which states have the best and worst statistics when it comes to drunk driving and you will never guess where the Garden State ranks.

Before we get into the statistics, here are some of the options I hope you are utilizing instead of drinking and driving.

One would think with the annual campaigns and consistent warnings of drinking and driving, statistics would decrease over time.

That is not necessarily the case.

According to Zutobi.com, the number of, "alcohol-impaired fatalities have decreased from 40% of all road fatalities in 1985 to 28% in 2019," which is a great start.

But in 2019, the total amount of deaths that occurred in our roads in 2019 was still as high as 10,142. That is a huge number and this proves we still have a long way to go.

So where does New Jersey rank when it comes to drunk driving and DUI's in the country?

Surprisingly enough, we are actually among states with the least amount of drunk drivers!

New Jersey's fatality score ranked #45 which means we are in the bottom 5. The higher the ranking, the more dangerous it is to be on the road in that state.

So not bad!

Number of DUI arrest per 100,000 drivers: 331

Number of DUI road fatalities per 100,000 drivers: 2.

Number of DUI road fatalities in comparison to all road fatalities: .23

New Jersey's DUI severity score: 37.8

I am very happy to see that in comparison to other states, the Garden State is somewhat responsible with the whole drinking and driving topic.

But being in the bottom 5 for the least amount of drinking and driving isn't the goal. It is to have that DUI severity score drop down to ZERO!
