These Are Not The New Jersey Towns You Love Despite The Name

Are there New Jersey towns that aren't within the borders of the Garden State? How can that be?

This sounds a little confusing, but it isn't. This is a list of Jersey Shore towns that aren't even in New Jersey.

Well, it turns out that there are several towns here at the Jersey Shore that share a name with a town outside of the Garden State. Let's see if you've ever heard of any of them.

Point Pleasant, West Virginia. You're not going to find Jenkinson's Aquarium or the original Jersey Mike's in Point Pleasant, Virginia. But what you will find is the Kanawha River. Early settlers of this Point Pleasant included the grandparents of Mark Twain. But no Spano's or Joe Leone's anywhere in this part of West Virginia.

Red Bank, Tennessee. You're not going to be going to a show at the Basie or for a great meal after the show at Teak restaurant, and you won't be visiting the Molly Pitcher Inn, but you can catch a football game at the home of the 2001 TSSAA Class V-A State Football Champions, the Lions of Red Bank High School. But there is no JBJ Soul Kitchen.

Middletown, Ohio. You're not going to find Christian Brothers Academy or MJ's Restaurant in this Middletown. But you will find The Ohio Challenge, a summer balloon festival, and the Light Up Middletown, a light display in the winter.

Freehold, NY. Don't look for Sweet Lew's, The Hall of Records, or the Raceway Mall in this Freehold. But if you go there, you will find a tiny, little hamlet with just a few buildings. Certainly a far cry from Route 9.
