The Forbes List of 'America’s Best Large Employers' came out and we can feel really proud about where New Jersey landed on that list.

A research firm called Statista did an intense survey of over 60,000 Americans to see how they viewed their respective workplaces. They take all of the data and boil it down to the top 500 companies getting the best feedback in numerous categories which ultimately make up the Forbes 500.

Would you recommend your job or work environment to a friend?  That is one of the questions they ask and the private responses help to deliver a kind of "Yelp review" for companies.

We in New Jersey need to feel really good about where we rank in all of this because 20 of our companies made the Forbes list, and three of them in the top 100!  If this were my kids’ report card, I would be taking them out for ice cream.

Here are the NJ companies named in the top 500.

The three companies in the top 100 from our state are:

Merck & Co.in Kenilworth came in at #45.

Johnson & Johnson out of New Brunswick was at #66.

Rutgers University was number #95.

Pretty impressive!  It is always a good thing when you are asking people who are totally anonymous to speak their mind, and they speak highly of their workplace.  Speaking freely doesn't always mean speaking highly so this list is a great resource for people who are job hunting.

I know some of you are thinking that so many of these are pharma companies and that may not apply to you. True, but sometimes we forget that there are many departments in those companies that don't deal with the science. They all have marketing and financial areas just to name a few. Remember, much of what is asked in these surveys is about work culture and overall environment so even if you are not a science smarty-pants these companies could also apply.

Other residents are moving out of New Jersey for work. If they do move, studies are showing that they are going to these states.

WHAT'S YOUR CAR PERSONALITY?

We all make snap judgements whether we want to admit it or not...well, it turns out that you guys are willing to share exactly what you think (Jersey shocker). I asked you what your perceptions are of New Jersey drivers behind certain vehicles and you had a lot to say...
