Finally, Taylor Ham Verse Pork Roll Debate Ended Thanks To This NJ Celebrity
It's a rivalry that is bound to get heated responses.
Much like when you ask if Central Jersey is really a place (it is by the way), or if New York has better bagels than Jersey (they don't, from my experience).
Usually, the answer is simply a matter of geography other times it's all about brand loyalty.
Of course, it's the question that gets brought up every couple of months; Taylor Ham or Pork Roll?
Plenty of people feel the need to confidentially spout off their answer, and then immediately begin to defend it.
If I've learned nothing about Jersey since moving here it's that we are a very opinionated state, and of course, we are! We take great pride in where we live.
So, when a New Jersey native and Hollywood big whig starts to give their opinion on the matter, our ears start to perk up.
Enter Danny DeVito.
The Asbury Park native and big-time movie star, although I'm always more prone to his role as Frank in 'It's Always Sunny.'
Recently, according to NJ.com Danny DeVito was interviewed by the YouTube channel Wired for a video series entitled Autocomplete Interview.
It's a fun series they do with celebrities where they answer some of the biggest questions associated with their name and Google Autocomplete.
During Danny Devito's interview, one of the questions that came up was about his first job in which he told the story of him being a ride operator for the kiddy rides on the boardwalk.
I'd love to see him do that today.
During the answer, one of the producers really quickly asked DeVito "Pork Roll or Taylor Ham".
Without hesitation DeVito gave his answer;
"Taylor Ham, on a hard roll with some mustard and lettuce" - Danny DeVito, Wired Interview
Watch the full video below, it's pretty funny.
Personally, I think that sounds disgusting.
Whether you call it Pork Roll or Taylor Ham is one thing, but to not order it with some cheese, or an egg, or anything like that?
Count me out.
Of course, I'm sure the Taylor Ham Vs. Pork Roll debate will boil on regardless of what Danny DeVito or any celebrity says.
At the end of the day though we can all agree on one thing; it's delicious!
