A Little Egg Harbor man whose been busy for all the wrong reasons now finds himself in a jail cell after being tied to multiple attempted burglaries to motor vehicles and homes.

Police say Jason Smith, 34, has tried breaking into vehicles on Stagecoach Road off of Stage Road and Giffordtown Lane within the last week.

Smith also played a role in attempts in the West Tuckerton section and on Wood Street in the borough of Tuckerton.

Police got a call on Tuesday morning around 6:20 am for a suspicious person on Giffordtown Lane after the caller told dispatch that someone was trying to break into the back of their home.

The suspicious male fled on foot prior to police arrival but was later located.

After further investigation, he was identified as Jason Smith and was placed under arrest and charged with Criminal Trespassing and Possession of CDS (heroin).

Police were then able to tie him to other attempted burglaries in the area.

Smith was then additionally charged with two counts of Criminal Attempt Burglary by Little Egg Harbor Twp. Police and two counts of Criminal Attempt Burglary by Tuckerton Borough Police.

He has been lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
