At this point, it's no surprise to anyone that some big changes are coming to Great Adventure in Jackson over the next couple of months.

Coasters like Kingda-Ka as well as other popular rides like the Sky Ride and the Parachute Ride are all being shut down.

Now, a lot of us had some form of hope that Kingda-Ka and the drop ride attached to it, Zumanjaro might be re-used and re-purposed at another park.

Sadly, it does not look like that will be the case.

As of December 18th, it looked like there have been permits filed with Jackson Township to begin the destruction of Kinga-Ka and its attached drop-ride Zumanjaro.

NJ.com reports that the permit is still under review, but if approved the demolition of one of the world's tallest rollercoasters is set to begin sometime in February of 2025.

There's no word on how the demolition may take place; whether it'd be through a controlled explosion or taken down piece by piece.

Either way, it's going to be a sad but historic moment in Ocean County, kind of like when they imploded the Vet in Philadelphia.

I remember watching that demolition on TV, upset that I'd never watch another game in that stadium but also realizing that it was an important cultural moment in Philadelphia's history.

This is similar, I don't want to see Kingda-Ka and Zumanjaro go but it's a moment that we will likely never forget watching either.
