As Memorial Day Weekend approaches many are thinking about getting outdoors and enjoying one of our favorite things about living at the Jersey Shore, the Atlantic Ocean. In 2017 Garden State saw tourism bring in nearly 42 billion dollars to the state economy, so a significant portion of New Jersey revenue comes from folks enjoying their summers here in Jersey.

Ocean County Tourism is very important for us and of course, summer is a significant part of this section of our revenue, much like the rest of the state. Ocean County though has a significant part to play in summer because of our beaches which run from Point Pleasant to Little Egg Harbor.

According to a 2017 report, Ocean County Tourism brought in nearly 5 billion dollars in revenue, a significant portion of Ocean County's economic revenue. So basically tourism serves as a huge part of our income here in Ocean County. I bring "tourism" because there's a new business coming to Southern Ocean County and it is part of the summer tourism season, and more, at the Jersey Shore.

It appears that a new business is moving into the former Mystic Meat & Seafood Market location in Downtown Tuckerton. Signs indicate that the new Empire Fishing and Tackle will be opening and that's a welcome sight for the thousands of folks who enjoy fishing here in Southern Ocean County. We wish Empire Fishing & Tackle the best of luck and a big summer in Tuckerton.

It's so important for us to support our local businesses and they play such an important role in our economy, especially at a time when we see a large influx of national businesses opening up in towns throughout Ocean County.
