Jersey Shore Introducing Electronic Beach Badge Machines

I'm firmly in the camp that the mere concept of beach badges is ridiculous...but they're not going away anytime soon, so we may as well have an easier process to buy them.

My coworker snapped a pic of the new Beach Badge machine in Asbury Park:

I guess this makes sense, just because it's way easier to swipe a card than to worry about having cash on me. However, if you prefer to not leave a paper trail and still want to use cash, the traditional badge stands will remain.

If you want to go totally cash-and-card-less, you can actually download the Viply app and pay through your phone, the same way a few other towns allow you to buy badges.
