When it comes to unique architecture here in New Jersey, our lighthouses are some of the most special landmarks we have. From the northern part of the state all the way down the Jersey Shore, these historic towers have been a big part of our coastline for generations. They are not only beautiful to look at, but they also tell the story of New Jersey’s connection to the ocean.

Summer is almost here, we are all looking for some cool day trips to take with friends and family. It's not quite beach season, so what is there to do here in New Jersey that's, intriguing, historical, picturesque, and great for a perfect photo?

One great idea this spring is to take a little road trip around New Jersey. Load up the car, bring your camera, grab a cup of coffee, and explore some of the amazing lighthouses we have right here in the Garden State. There are so many beautiful spots to discover, and it’s a great way to enjoy the history and views that make New Jersey so special.

Check out photos I have taken when visiting New Jersey lighthouses.

Lighthouses of New Jersey

Many of our lighthouses here in New Jersey are historic sites and date back to colonial times. One of my favorites over the years has been Old Barney, which is Barnegat Light, and they have a beautiful park and beach and once again, you can climb Old Barney to get your steps and incline in lol.
