There is an "air quality alert" in effect for today. with sunny skies and temps that will feel above 90 degrees.

What Is An Air Quality Alert?

Ever hear an Air Quality Alert and wonder what it really means? It's basically a heads-up that the air outside isn't as clean as it normally is. On certain days, pollution, ozone, or even wildfire smoke can build up and make the air unhealthy for some people to breathe.

When an alert is issued, it doesn't mean you have to stay indoors all day, but it is a reminder to take it easy outside, especially if you have asthma, allergies, or other breathing concerns. Think of it as a weather advisory for the air you breathe—just a warning that conditions may not be ideal and that a little extra caution could go a long way.

The forecast is calling for sunshine for a good part of the weekend with temps near 90 each day. The "feels like" temp will feel even hotter.

When the summer heat really kicks in, there are some simple things we can do to stay cooler and more comfortable. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, wear light-colored and loose-fitting clothing, and try to stay in air-conditioned places when possible. If you're outside, look for shade and avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the afternoon.

It's also a good idea to keep blinds or curtains closed during the day to help keep indoor temperatures down. And don't forget about the simple pleasures of summer, taking a dip in a pool, cooling off at the beach, or enjoying a cold treat can make those hot Jersey days a lot more enjoyable.
