Happy century, Minnie! Manahawkin woman marks 101 with family & friends
In the year that Minnie Majkowicz entered the world, the Chicago Cubs played their first game at Wrigley Field. The Boy Scouts of America and the National Park Service formed. The Red Baron won his first aerial dogfight. All that is history, but Minnie is still very much a "today" woman, celebrating her 101st birthday with well-wishers in Forked River.

Minnie's shore lifestyle at Manahawkin's Fawn Lakes enclave is far removed from her origins in busy Passaic, where she received her education and ventured into the world for a career in bookkeeping and clerking.
She met the man of her dreams, John Majkowicz, and settled down, raising their son Lester, They spent 61 blissful years together, until he left this mortal coil in 2014.
Minnie's happy marriage, built on trust and family values, is only one component of her of longevity, which she modestly sums up in the phrase, "God blessed me." She also proudly notes that she never smoked, and always takes care to enjoy the pleasures of life in moderation.
Congratulations, Minnie, and may the next 101 years be as exciting as the first!
