These Are the 6 Best New Jersey Fudge Shops at The Jersey Shore. #5 is My Favorite
Fudge, it’s not just a filler word for something else we want to say when something goes wrong, it’s also what I consider to be an overlooked dessert.
The Jersey Shore is of course well known for our Salt Water Taffy, and sure who doesn’t like the tooth-decaying tastiness of a piece of Chocolate Salt Water taffy from the Jenkinson's boardwalk?
The Jersey Shore is also home to some pretty awesome Fudge and I think I’ve found some of the best places to get some fudge right here in Ocean and Monmouth County.
Now, before getting into it, I know my fiancée would immediately say her Grandmother made the absolute best Peanut Butter Fudge around.
I’ll give her an honorable mention, however, for our intents and purposes we’re going to be looking at fudgeries (pretty sure that’s a real thing) that you can go and visit without having to have an inside hookup with my soon-to-be family.
So, what exactly goes into ‘good fudge’? I personally look for a couple of different things. Firstly texture; is it chalky or smooth when you bite into it? I also take into consideration viscosity (breaking out the SAT words here!) is the fudge able to hold its shape when you cut a piece off? Or does it get runny pretty quickly?
This one is fairly arbitrary, but overall sweetness. If fudge is too sweet, I’m going to pass after one bite. It has to have a nice balance of sweetness, and flavor.
I found some of my favorites that you should put on your "must try" list. These aren't in any particular order but number five is my favorite.
