Popular Restaurant And Ice Cream Shop Suddenly Closes One Of Its Toms River, NJ Locations
Imagine going to work, and being told it would be your last day, not because you're being fired but because your work is going out of business.
I'd imagine it's somewhat of a sickening feeling, especially if you really like what you do and take pride in your job.
That seems to be what employees in Toms River faced on Monday when they were informed their employer would be closing that day.
It's a shame, I used to visit this place with my grandma all the time and have some pretty fond memories here, it's sad to see the company slowly disappear like it is.
As a kid, I always thought they had the absolute best-grilled cheese sandwiches and of course, their sundaes and ice cream creations were second to none.
In Toms River, this restaurant used to have four locations and now we're down to just one.
What Restaurant In Toms River, NJ Suddenly Closed This Week?
According to Patch, the location that closed was on 37, right near the Berkley Township Border.
It was the only place you could go to get a Jim Dandy, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Monster Sundae, or a Famous Fribble.
Patch reports that Friendly's at 981 Route 37 in Toms River closed suddenly on Monday evening, and the closure is confirmed on the restaurant's Facebook page.
With this closure, it means that the only Friendly's left in Ocean and Monmouth counties is the one on Hooper Avenue.
In fact, there is now only 13 Friendly's open in New Jersey at this point.
I haven't been to a Friendly's in years, but after finding out about this, all of a sudden I feel the need for a Fribble.
