Deer Rescued From The Ocean Off Belmar

You don't really expect to see a deer on the beach, and you definitely don't expect to see a deer running into the ocean.

Luckily for one deer who got caught up in the waves, a group of surfers were able to rescue it and get it back on dry land.

A man and his girlfriend were relaxing on the beach when they first saw the animal run into the water, and ended up about 25 yards out. He tried to bring the deer back in, but the cold water and the crashing waves made it too difficult. A group of surfers were able to paddle over and help the deer out, near the 16th Avenue jetty. According to onlookers, the deer tried to run back into the water, but was eventually chased off the beach.
