Brick Public Works crew helps rescue baby foxes from storm drain

Two baby foxes are now free to join their mom in the woods after being rescued from a storm drain in Brick Township.

The Brick Public Works Department and Brick Road Department spent parts of the last couple days helping two baby foxes out of a storm drain, according to Laurelton Veterinary Hospital who posted video on Facebook.

"We just wanted to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts to everyone that came to help especially the Bricktown Public Works Dept and Brick Township Road Dept for all of their efforts yesterday and today!!!"

Road crews came back on Thursday morning to lift the grate of the storm drain and climb in to make sure the foxes were out.

Laurelton Veterinary Hospital said they are indeed out of the storm drain and with their mom again.

"We cannot wait to see her with them walking in the woods again."

The red fox is pretty small with a head and body size of between 18-33.75 inches, according to National Geographic, but their tail is 12 to 21.75 inches long with a total body weight of anywhere from 6.5-24 pounds.
