UPDATE: Joint Base MDL has issued the flight plans.

Doesn't look great for us in Ocean County, but if you're near the Joint Base, you'll be able to see it.

-------------------------------

There had been some buzz over the past week or so about the Blue Angels and/or the Thunderbirds doing flyovers over New Jersey to salute first responders. Finally, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst confirmed the rumors!

The flyovers will happen Tuesday, April 28th!

  • Flyovers in Newark, New York City and surrounding boroughs will start at noon and last approximately 35 minutes
  • Flyovers in Trenton will start at 1:45pm and last approximately 10 minutes
  • Flyovers in Philadelphia will start at 2pm and last approximately 20 minutes

Residents along the flight path can expect a few seconds of jet noise as the aircraft pass overhead, along with the sight of 12 high-performance aircraft flying close in precise formation.

Of course, the Joint Base & Blue Angels & Thunderbirds are stressing that you SHOULD NOT assemble in large groups or in public areas to watch. This isn't going to be an 'airshow', so be sure to stay in home-quarantine and maintain social distance.
