A bicyclist is in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center after suffering a series of injuries including head trauma in an accident in Asbury Park on Friday.
Asbury Park Police said officers were dispatched around 11:50 am to the intersection of Main Street (State Highway 71) and Fourth Avenue for a motor vehicle crash.
The cyclist was quickly brought to the hospital for evaluation and treatment and remains in the ICU under constant observation, police said.
The Monmouth County Serious Collision Accident Response Team responded to the accident scene on Friday morning as well and are assisting Asbury Park Police Traffic Safety Officer Will Reng with the on-going investigation.
