It's been a spectacular summer broadcasting LIVE from the New Jersey Natural Gas Asbury Park Boardwalk Studio. Having a radio show on the legendary boardwalk is the highlight of my working week! You can't really describe it, the energy and the vibes are special. Asbury Park is a Jersey Shore treasure!

Recently, while I was broadcasting, someone ran by and shouted, "Porchfest!" At first, I was thinking to myself, "Who is this nut screaming random things in the background of a radio broadcast", but I then quickly realized he was talking about the Asbury Park PorchFest!

I am extremely proud to be getting the word out about the 2021 Asbury Park PorchFest. Last year it was canceled, but this year will be the 5th annual event. PorchFest will take place on October 2nd and the event is FREE. It will be a great day out for everyone of all ages.

Thanks to the creators of Asbury Park PorchFest, here is everything you need to know for this year's event:

PorchFest was founded in Ithaca, NY in September 2007 by neighbors Gretchen Hildreth and Lesley Greene. Over the years the concept of hosting performances on front porches, for an audience who moved from home to home, has grown with communities around the U.S. organizing PorchFests of all sizes. Asbury Park’s passionate connection to music, its beauty and camaraderie, and its beautiful porches make it an ideal town for our own annual PorchFest.

This family-friendly, FREE event features musicians from a wide variety of genres. Afternoon entertainment will include dozens of performers on porches throughout the city. Attendees will stroll from porch to porch and relax on front lawns and sidewalks as they enjoy live, local talent. A Program Guide will be available and a map of porches and performers will be posted here.

This is a FREE event. AP PorchFest is completely coordinated by volunteers who believe in the power of music and understand that engagement builds strong communities. Show your support for local music, the arts, and your community by sponsoring a porch, placing an ad in the event program guide, or by simply making a donation. Asbury Park PorchFest is a 501 (c)(4) non-profit organization.

A special thank you to THE Asbury Park Homeowners Association for organizing PorchFest. APHA is a not-for-profit corporation that provides homeowners with an organized means of gathering together to provide a better life in the city. They also aim to serve all residents of Asbury Park and so have held food drives, helped clean our parks, and now they are bringing you PorchFest.

Asbury Park make the list?! Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
