Ocean State Job Lot is Opening in Freehold

An empty Toys 'R Us in Monmouth County will soon be taken over by a discount chain.

The vacant Toys 'R Us building across from Freehold Raceway Mall is massive. It's nearly 45,000 square feet.

Have you heard of Ocean State Job Lot? They are a discount retailer headquartered in Rhode Island but operate locations throughout the northeast.

Their selection is very wide. You can get just about anything here. Discounted household goods, apparel, pet supplies, kitchen pantry staples, and seasonal products are just the beginning. Ocean State Job Lot is great for pool and beach supplies. There's a reclining zero gravity chair on their website that I have my eye on.

What's the best part of Ocean State Job Lot opening in our neighborhood? Jobs. According to NJ.com, the retailer is expected to open its doors by this fall.

In a news release, Paul Cox, director of store operations for Ocean State Job Lot said:

Ocean State Job Lot is committed to continued expansion and growth throughout the Northeast and based upon the warm welcome we’ve received in our other New Jersey markets, we are excited to add another location. We look forward to creating new jobs, filling a large vacancy in a popular shopping center, and providing great values and a friendly shopping experience for the Freehold community.

Those other New Jersey locations include Clinton, Deptford, Franklin Park, South Plainfield, and Sparta.
