Ocean City, NJ's Famous 34th Street Market Is Closing
I remember visiting this place as a kid, we'd always do a day trip to Ocean City when we stayed at our place in Sea Isle City just becasue Ocean City had an amazing boardwalk.
We'd swing by the 34th Street Maret after a day of fun to pick up some Jersey corn to go with dinner that night.
The Press of Atlantic City reports though that after 46 years the 34th Street Market will not be opening in the summer of 2024.
Why Is The 34th Street Market Closing?
The market was on a property that was rented and didn't have a written lease according to the Press Of Atlantic City, and the property was recently sold.
The plan is for the lot to be developed into a residential unit and condos.
Which is great, because we need more homes that nobody can afford. That's sarcasm of course, it's terrible when we see these businesses go under to make way for high-end condos and houses.
The 34th Street Market was a staple for a visit to Ocean City, especially when you'd swing by for a few scoops from the Scoop Box, the attached ice cream shop, it was a great day.
I'm sad to see this go.
