When Will Weed Be Legal In NJ?
Your Halloween party might have a different vibe this year.
Governor Murphy said "sooner than later" when asked about a potential date for legalization, and the vote is could happen October 29th.

The biggest issue currently facing the bill? The tax rate. Democratic leaders in the state Legislature are standing by a 12 percent tax on recreational marijuana, but other lawmakers are reportedly pushing for tax rates anywhere from 10 percent to 25 percent over a four-year period.
Twenty-five percent is a crazy tax rate! It seems like that is set intentionally high, either by a legislator who really doesn't want marijuana legalized, or maybe as a diversion tactic, where they assume that starting with a super-expensive tax they can eventually seem like they were nice when they negotiated down to 19%.
