In the wake of that story of the sudden microphone cut-off near the end of the historic concert where both the Boss and the Sir played together for the first time, I started to think about concerts I've been to that were cut short.

By far the one I remember the most was at Roosevelt Stadium when Emerson, Lake and Palmer played there back in the day (at the height of their fame, the 70's).

A storm kicked up furiously after stalking the area for a bit and hit just after soundcheck.

When a lightening bolt hit the stage, it was all over before it began.

I was pretty much in the nose bleed section, but I can still see Keith Emerson making his way to his gorgeous grand piano (rumoured to have cost $17,000 even back then), now destroyed by a speaker that had smashed into it when the lightening bolt struck.

He was kicking it.

I didn't know whether to laugh or to feel bad for the guy. So I think I did both.

What's your worst-ending-to-a-concert story?
