This Might Be The Coolest Bar I’ve Ever Played A Show At, And It’s Right Here In NJ

I can finally cross another day trip off my New Jersey bucket list, and I'm so happy I had the chance to.

Over the weekend, I filled in for the band Serious FM, and playing with them is always a ton of fun, but what was even cooler was the venue we got to play at; I think it may be one of the coolest places to see live music in Jersey.

Located up in the Highlands, this bar sat directly on the water and was all beach; they had cabanas, a roped-off swimming area, food trucks galore, and of course, the bar was pumping out ice-cold beers, mixed drinks, and something that looked like a slushie mixed with a margarita; it was great.

The Sandbox Is My New Favorite Beach Bar In New Jersey

I don't often get up to this part of New Jersey, but I was blown away at how cool it was to spend a day at the Sandbox.

That's the mandatory "day at the office" picture I send my wife any time I play a gig at a beach bar.

The Sandbox Has Easy Access To The Seastreak Ferry

What's really cool about the Sandbox is that it's nestled right up to where the Seastreak docks to get you to and from New York, so not only did we have a solid crowd from NJ, but a decent amount of New Yorkers were there too for live music and to enjoy a gorgeous day.

On top of that, parking here was free, a total rarity in Jersey!

The Sandbox is now a go-to recommendation for me when people ask for a fun place to hang out in Jersey; it's not a bad drive up the Parkway, and the Highlands is such a cool area that it's well worth a day trip.
