What Is With The Driving In Ocean County
It's been a rough week to say the least. Tuesday a car was coming straight at me on Hooper Avenue, clearly on the wrong side of the road. On Thursday, I was almost rear-ended coming home from work. Then on Friday I was almost side-swiped. So tell me, what is going on with the driving in Ocean County lately? It's like every man for himself out there and it seems to be getting worse by the day.
Is everyone just so preoccupied that they just can't drive? And please don't tell me it's the 'young kids' because it's not. It's mostly moms, dads and older people and I don't mean the senior citizens either. Remember when you used to get in your car and actually drive? I do! I mean, lets not even talk about stop or yield signs, what are those?
The street I live on is 25 MPH, like most residential streets. But I can tell you, at least 60% of the cars driving by are doing about 40. Then you have the occasional !&# going about 50+. I mean, what is the rush? Passing houses and side streets so quickly...do you have any idea how many things could go wrong for you?
I'll leave you with this, it's only April, our weekend crowds aren't even here yet, so let's just get this out in the open now....PLEASE just pay attention and be courteous when you're behind the wheel and obey the speed limits. They're there for a reason!
