A Day Without Medals For American Athletes
A day without medals and mostly disappointment for American athletes in PyeongChang. A day after winning the gold in the giant slalom 22-year old MIKAELA SHIFFRIN could not defend her Olympic gold in the slalom as she finished fourth. Medal favorite LINDSEY JACOBELLIS had to settle for a fourth place finish as well in the Snowboard Cross.
Men’s figure skating got underway with the short program and ADAM RIPPON was in 7th place while U.S. Champion NATHAN CHEN fell out of medal contention after a dreadful performance in which he fell on his first jump and was in 17th place. The free skate is tonight.
Also tonight in primetime is the women’s Super G skiing event.
The U.S. Men’s Hockey team provided some good news as they edged Slovakia 2-1 behind a pair of power play goals from RYAN DONATO.
Norway continues to lead the medals race with 19, including 6 gold while Germany’s 15 medals includes 9 gold. The United States has won a total of 8 medals with 5 of them gold.
