Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella has announced the arrests of Christopher Ojeda, 32, of Howell and Dajan Mindingall, 27, of Eatontown for their alleged roles in armed robberies that took place in Rutherford and Edgewater.

Ojeda and Mindingall both face a number of charges from those armed robberies but other law enforcement agencies want a word with them as well.

Both men are suspects in similar robberies throughout the state with those investigations ongoing today.

In January of 2019, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad started looking into armed robberies that occurred at the Extended Stay Hotel in Rutherford and the Queen Spa in Edgewater.

Their investigation led to the identification of Ojeda and Mindingall as the primary suspects in the armed robberies.

Last week, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office executed search warrants at the residences of Ojeda and Mindingall as well as on a vehicle.

Ojeda was then arrested in Howell and Mindingall in Asbury Park.

Both men were charged with one count of Robbery, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1), a 1st degree crime; one count of Kidnapping, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b(1), a 1st degree crime; one count of Possession Of A Handgun Without A Permit, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(2), a 2nd degree crime; one count of Possession Of A Firearm For An Unlawful Purpose, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1), a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(3)/2C:5-1, a 2nd degree crime.

Ojeda and Mindingall were brought to the Bergen County Jail pending their first appearances in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Wednesday.

Prosecutor Musella credits the work of the Edgewater, Rutherford, Eatontown, Asbury Park, Howell, Woodbridge, South Plainfield, North Brunswick, Green Brook, West Long Branch, Cherry Hill, Linden and Secaucus Police Departments, and the Monmouth County, Hudson County, and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Offices for their assistance in this investigation.
