Two Fundraisers Scheduled for This Weekend for Ocean County Families
Tomorrow (Saturday 2/18) there are two fundraisers going on in Toms River and in Brick to help raise money for Police Office Brett Hansen who was severely injured in an automobile accident back in January, & Jimmy Meyers, a Toms River local who was killed in a snowboarding accident last weekend at Killington Vermont.
The "Friends Helping Family" Fundraiser for Jimmy Meyers will be taking place at 9pm on Saturday 2/18 at the Mantoloking Road Pub in Brick, to raise money to help out with costs for whatever the family needs. This event is being held by Jimmy's friends and there will be a Chinese Auction and a 50/50 raffle. There is also a GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral expenses. Brett Hansen, a Toms River Police Officer since August 2015, was severely injured in an off-duty car accident on the Garden State Parkway on January 4th. Hansen lost his left eye, and doctors are unsure how much vision he will keep in his right eye. There will be a charity hockey game between the Toms River PD and Camden County PD at Winding River Skating Center on Whitesville Rd in Toms River at 7p. His family also created a GoFundme campaign to raise funds to cover medical bills that exceed his insurance.
