Two years after filing for bankruptcy, Toys R Us is planning to make a comeback in time for Christmas 2019.

The new owners plan to downsize, both in terms of number of locations and in the actual size of the stores. Two years ago there were around 600 locations, each between 20,000-50,000 square feet. Now, owners are looking to re-open "a handful" of stores at about 10,000 square feet each.

While there is no official word yet as to where the new locations will be, it's likely that the top-selling stores would be targets for re-openings; the biggest Toys R Us locations were in NJ and Long Island. There's a good chance the stores will return there, but more info will be coming around June.
