The Wallflowers - Heroes

It's a pretty straight-forward cover, but I enjoy the way Jakob Dylan's voice fits this song.

The Get Up Kids - Suffragette City

A stronghold of my college rock days, The Get Up Kids released an album full of b-sides and covers, and this was a highlight.

Nirvana - The Man Who Sold the World

This exposed Bowie to an entire new audience. Bowie himself was surprised that he influenced Cobain, and joked about how after this younger kids would come to Bowie shows and praise him for covering a Nirvana tune.

Seu Jorge - The Life Aquatic soundtrack

The first time I watched "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" I was immediately struck by the soundtrack.  The entire thing is acoustic covers of Bowie tunes sung in Portuguese. Bowie himself endorsed the idea, saying "Had Seu Jorge not recorded my songs in Portuguese I would never have heard this new level of beauty which he has imbued them with."

Chris Hadfield - Space Oddity

This was such an incredible cover the first time I saw it...and now watching it brought a few tears to my eyes.
