The Tuscan House, across from the Ocean County Mall on Hooper Avenue in Toms River, has been closed for a while.

Today, the location will finally be the home of a new restaurant: B2 Bistro + Bar!

B2 Bistro + Bar has three locations in New Jersey already, one up in North Brunswick, in Red Bank and other at the Shore in Point Pleasant Beach. They also have a restaurant in West Reading, Pennsylvania.

According to their Facebook post, B2 did some major renovations to the Tuscan House. They built a brand new bar area, added glass garage doors that will lead out to a huge patio, an open kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven, a grill station, a sushi station, a new exterior, and an all new private event space. Right now a full menu will be offered, including their signature cocktails, but the sushi menu will not be available until December.

Obviously opening a restaurant in these times is a bit tricky, but the new spot will be open for outdoor and limited indoor dining, along with takeout and curbside pickup. We've seen countless restaurants close and people lose their jobs and businesses, so it's good to see a new place open that can give waiters and waitresses and busboys and bartenders a place to earn some money. If you're looking for a job, B2 actually has a section on their website devoted to you.

We've been stressing the idea of shopping local for a long time, and this is another example. The immediate future looks pretty scary, so let's help some businesses while we can.
