Tonight is the annual Vest-a-Cop fundraiser where the Toms River Police Department puts down their ticket books, and they put on the aprons to become servers at Pizza Hut. It's happening at the Pizza Hut on Rt. 37 in Toms River from 4-9pm.

Toms River's police officers will be waiters and waitresses for the night to raise money for the "Bullet Proof Vest Fund".

The Toms River Police Department is asking for our help, and I know things are tense between police and the public right now, but the reality is....No matter how you might feel about them, positive or negative, they will continue to protect you AND be there for you no matter what . That is just the reality. So we're asking you to donate a few bucks to make their job just a little bit easier.

The fund will continue to vest the police officers and keep them safe while upholding their responsibilities to protect life and property.

There will also be plenty of activities for the kids: face painting, dunk tank, bounce house, DJ Mike West, and much more. Ocean County Sheriff's Department will also be on hand to create the children fingerprint identification cards.
