Toms River Police are hoping you can help them find the vehicle where two kittens were thrown from on Route 70 near Massachusetts Avenue.

Police were called to the intersection for an animal call around 8:00 pm on Saturday June 22.

Witnesses told police that they saw the passenger of an older model, faded red Pathfinder, with black roof racks, throw two kittens into the road.

One of the kittens was immediately run over by another vehicle and died and the second kitten was rescued by the caller.

The second kitten later escaped into the woods.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the vehicle description or who may have witnessed the incident to please contact Detective Tom Grosse at 732-349-0150 extension 1263.

This story has been updated to show that the first cat did not survive.
