A Thursday night fire at the Jamestown Apartments in Toms River on James Street remains under investigation this morning.

Toms River Police Spokeswoman Jillian Messina tells WOBM News that multiple police and fire units responded to the call around 10:00 PM on Thursday for the structure fire.

There were 2 apartments that suffered heavy fire damage, 6 units suffered smoke damage and about 14 people have been displaced as a result of the fire.

Messina said none of the displaced have requested housing assistance at this time.

Fire Inspector with the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention, Kevin Esposito, tells WOBM News that the fire is under investigation.
