Three arrested after Brick, NJ Police find loaded Glock 17 handgun, knives, and drugs

The Brick Township Police Street Crimes Unit made a trio of arrests after a startling discovery when they pulled a vehicle over near Maple Avenue and Herbertsville Road last Friday night.

There were SCU Detectives in the area around 8:30 and suspicious activity caught their attention within the confines of the Maple Leaf Apartment Complex which led to a motor vehicle stop down the road.

During their on-scene investigation, detectives found a loaded Glock 17 handgun with a 30-round high capacity magazine containing hollow-point bullets as well as a second magazine that was also loaded with a mixture of rounds, some of which were armor-piercing, police said.

After spotting the guns and ammo, police found heroin, cocaine, crack -- all ready to be sold -- drug paraphernalia, and knives.

Kiana Craig, 20, Brick, and Desiree Ruffino, 25, Tuckerton, were the adults arrested and charged with distribution of heroin, cocaine, and crack, three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing justice, possession of prohibited ammunition, possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense, possession of a large-capacity magazine, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of weapons.

On top of all that, Ruffino is charged with several motor vehicle summonses including operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, driving while suspended, fictitious plates, possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle, and other moving violations.

The third person arrested is a juvenile and their information is being withheld, police explained, because they are a minor.

While Craig and Ruffino were in the Ocean County Jail, detectives seized the vehicle and three cell phones.
