The Smithereens Join The NJ Hall of Fame
I love the Smithereens. They're a severely underrated band, in both local and national recognition. Next year will be the band's 40th anniversary, and this year they will be inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Both of these celebrations will be bittersweet, after the loss of frontman Pat DiNizio in 2017.
The Smithereens will join Southside Johnny, Jason Alexander, Harry Carson, George R.R. Martin, and others as part of the Class of 2019.
I met Pat DiNizio a number of times; he was a great dude, with a wicked sense of humor, a knack for storytelling, and an appreciation for his fans. He, and the band, are definitely deserving of this honor. The only shame is that Pat won't be here to enjoy it.
