John Entwistle would have turned 68 this week.

He was born on October 9, 1944 in London, England.

Entwistle, of course, was often called "Thunderfingers", with his aggressive bass lines.

He passed away due to a heart attack brought on by cocaine on June 27, 2002 in Las Vegas, one day before the scheduled kick-off of The Who's 2002 tour, but he's hardly been forgotten all these years later.

In 2011, in fact, a Rolling Stone reader's poll chose him as the #1 rock bassist of all time.

Entwistle's death was quite a loss, not just personally, but certainly musically, for the other band members.

Thanks for those powerful basslines, John Entwistle, not to mention that black humor on "Boris the Spider"...
